Iambic Sonnet

This is my attempt at the English or Shakespearean sonnet. I chose to write the English sonnet because I find the rhyme scheme more appropriate to the nature of my poem and its topic. I struggled to get the iambic pentameter and I'm not 100 percent sure I got it. I am pleased with how the poem reads and I feel that it expresses myself. It may not be Nobel worthy but it is me and anything that allows for one to be wholly themselves is worthy of regard in my opinion.

My poetry skills make it  hard to read
at times I find it difficult to write
I haven’t the inspirations that I need
If I try  I might  get the pentameter right

Ten syllables per a line each
five stress, five not and then a rhyme
Lastly an end rhyme of you I beseech
poetry often feels like the start of end times

Students scrabble and write  without taste
the poems produced suffer less than perfect
each line only based in a rushed waste
subjects displayed on the pages clicked or handpicked?

I’ll tell you this, writing a sonnet is rough
I know enough, iambic pentameter is tough
